Thank you for visiting Mr. Hughey's Washington West Elementary Music homepage!  Since 2005, it has been my joy, honor and privilege teaching music to the wonderful and talented children of Olean! 

 I have been involved in music for as long as I can remember, playing piano and performing in numerous ensembles.  I obtained my Associate's Degree in Music Performance from Niagara County Community College and then my Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from The State University of New York at Fredonia, with a concentration in Music Composition and Piano.  I later completed my Master's Degree in Music Education at Stephen F. Austin State University.

 I  played live piano in Boston, Buffalo and the Niagara Falls area and played in jazz and rock bands as well.  At Fredonia, I was fortunate to study piano with Professor Robert Jordan, a world renowned pianist and wonderful teacher.  Professor Jordan was inspirational to me and is one of the main reasons I'm a teacher today.  I currently lead worship at Central Baptist Church in Olean and also perform live during the summer months and a compose music regularly.  I sincerely love the kids and love my job, and wouldn't want to be doing anything else!
